The influence of acceleration on the sink rate of a sailplane and on the indication of the variometer
Keywords:

This article is a summary of conclusions drawn from theoretical work, wind tunnel experiments and in-flight measurements; work carried out over several years. It was the aim of this research to explain the differences which exist between the real response of the total energy variometer and its ideal behavior. We believe that the results which have been assembled here in concise form will help the interested pilot to better understand the response of his variometer, or to improve an existing system which does not satisfy him.Downloads
