Abstract

The possibilities of weather forecasting with a team meteorologist changed rapidly duringthe last years due to progresses in numerical weather forecast and communication technology. The access of regional meteorological data and their online evaluation by satellite, mailbox or the internet are presented. For pilots, it's easier to take complex meteorological processes by visualizing them (f.e. 5D) and then modify competition tactics. A view of present opportunities in synoptic meteorology and the use of topographical data as well as an outlook on new trends is also covered.
