Abstract

At the XVII Congress of OSTIV held at Paderborn, I submitted a paper entitled "The optimum centre of gravity position for minimum overall energy loss" (Ref. 1), which was mainly concerned with fixed-geometry sailplanes.  In this paper, and based largely on Refs. 2 and 3, a series of expressions were derived for flapped sailplanes.
